  • Poco a poco... As they say in Spain

I think I can understand the scepticism surrounding ‘another’ new website, even more so when already being a member of a one site someone else comes along trying to encourage you to leave.

When you hear the success stories surounding websites it sounds so easy; write a blog, sit back and watch the fire take hold… In the real world things are so different

So many of you already own blogs, so you’ve already have the experience in trying to encourage people to join in. Any feedback about how you went about it would be greatly appreciated, I'm a little bit worried about pushing too hard too soon. I suppose longevity and keep posting/promoting is the name of the game... We'll see

Just getting through some stuff in my head!! And on the brighter side got some really positive feedback from Liverpool University and from Venturenavigator.co.uk.

Another new music brick arrived a few days ago...

poco a poco as they say in Spain.
    joplin
Janis Joplin; Me and Bobby McGee written by John N
Just lost a good friend, someone who was a part of my life during the 90’s.

A clever, clever guy; but that part was always hidden away, well read but held back until it was necessary, ferociously protective of what he believed; the values that were fought for over years in a work place…

...Tanned beyond belief no matter what time of the year it was. Glassy eyed; with a large Grouse whisky and a grin on his face as big as a Cheshire cat who’d just ate all the cheese, swaying from side to side to the music with his finger pointing at his mate, who was actually called Bobby McGee, singing his head off to the chorus.

    Thanks John

  • Is it me...

Is it me, or does everyone seem to be working backwards, I mean companies take your call, understand exactly what you want and even offer advice on how to improve it, then once you've accepted everything and ordered they drop into reverse and I end up having to chase after them to get a result.

They do say patience is a virtue. lol

    Another musicbrick arrived Gary Numan and 'are friends electric';
    numan

Yo Sammity Sam; Are Friends Electric...
"My love of Gary Numan came about because someone mentioned to me in passing, that I looked like him and with him being the coolest person on the planet at that time I became Gary Numan.

I was allowed to decorate my room anyway I wanted. This amounted to a black and white zebra-crossing on my ceiling, lime green wallpaper with white vertical stripes on two walls, my bed perched on top of wardrobes and a huge black circle with the picture, I painted, of Gary Numan’s face in a negative. I think it was off one of the album or single covers"

    Thanks yo sammity sam

  • The' C' word... Culture that is

When I mention I come from Liverpool, no matter where I am in the world two conversations will come up... The Beatles and Liverpool football club.

Like most people I love the city I come from and for me Liverpool is synonymous with music and sport, so I 've decided to start contacting the high flyers of the city to see what response I have; The 08Place (The Capital of Culture), The Chamber of Commerce, Venture Navigator, BusinessConnect, the Universities, the local radio stations, local magazines, local papers etc to see if anyone can give maybe an editorial space or maybe some advice on possible directions to go.

I think I have is a sound idea, I'm passionate about my idea and it's in probably the fifth or sixth largest area on the internet Being designed and developed in Liverpool, I'm hoping for a little bit of backing from Liverpool that's if... well lot's of ifs really

I've not actively promoted musicbrick as yet , still waiting for some publicity to be printed, but I'm hoping for a little miracle (it is Xmas after all. lol) that maybe one of the local medias might show an interst and give me a little shout! Let's see heh!

  • How much!!

musicbrick.com went live on the 15th November 2007 and although it was exciting to finally see the hours of graft in all their glory, I’ve realised how true the advice from the web designer rings true.

‘I really like the idea, but are you sure you want to go through with this? Was the first thing he said once he’d put together the costings.

And the second… ‘You realise you’re going to need double what the website cost for marketing or take at least 6 months off work and publicise it like it was your job; 10 hours a day’.

    Sound advice me thinks!!

Two problems though! I have a marketing budget of about £200.00… one sec! Jingle, Jingle… make that £200.77 pence and I can’t stop work because… I can’t stop work.

Now I’m in the process of trying to let as many people know that I think there’s an incredible website out there called music brick .com.

So after three days in, I’m having some T shirts printed, 5 to be exact, and I’m chatting with the guy in the shop. He tells me that he’s loved rap and hip hop all his life, so I say… ‘If you like the idea, put something on there..’

    madness
Sugarhill Gang, Rappers Delight… he did it!! Laugh? I nearly bought a round.

I can’t say how good it felt… but I was delirious!! Thanks andy cee

  • I'm a painter and decorator

I’m a painter and decorator by trade but my love affair with music began when I was young, encouraged by my dad who’s an absolute encyclopaedia of music and luckily for me was a huge punk and reggae fan. So my introduction to music started with rock and roll, through country and western back to rock and roll then came punk and new wave, then reggae, indie, dipping in and out of blues etc… so quite a diverse

The connection between music and experience intrigues me, how a song or piece of music can impact so indelibly on our lives

Nearly all my friends are interested in music in one way or another; our conversations generally turn to music at some point during our times together. I noticed how diverse our stories and experiences we shared around music, even centred around particular songs.

Musicbrick.com was born from these get-togethers, I wanted to find out what other experiences people shared that were connected to music. What things were happening during the 1940’s right through to the current day; the clothes, the shops, the hairstyles, the socialising, world events...

  • We’re building something unique…

musicbrick.com represents a celebration of music; a platform for people around the world to highlight something extraordinary connected to a song or piece of music.

Our aim is to build a structure utterly dedicated to music. We call our structure The Music Wall and like any wall it’s constructed with bricks; music bricks to be exact.

Each music brick is a personal showcase, an area to relive, remind and reveal your experiences, choices, opinions, predictions, views and reviews on anything and everything to do with music.

It’s very easy; create a free account, think of a memorable song, talk about an experience connected to it and then, if you want, link a video or image, and there you have it… a music brick.

Each music brick will become a unique and incredibly important part of musicbrick.com owning an exclusive and permanent position in the Music Wall.

Every new addition will literally become ‘another brick in the wall’ creating a global musical platform of potentially unprecedented size, representing an eclectic mix of genres from the past, present and the future of music.

We’re building something unique… a wall dedicated to music… a wall saturated in music… Come and fix your piece of history into our piece of history.

    musicbrick.com… Have you got yours?
